2016 Fall Daytona Beach Turkey Run

DAYTONA BEACH, FL, November 27, 2016 – For those of us not accustomed to temperatures in the high 70s in November, that alone is reason for celebration, but add to the mix a full weekend of classic cars at the Daytona Speedway, and could you ask for anything more?

The Turkey Run is one of the largest combination car show and swap meet in the country, and from what we saw, this event lived up to its reputation. More than 6,000 vintage, classic, muscle cars, race cars and trucks were on display or for sale at this 43rd annual event. And, if you were looking for that hard-to-find part or piece of memorabilia, more than 2,500 vendors were on hand to ensure that you didn't go home disappointed.

The Daytona Turkey Run "Dream Build," which was a huge success in its inaugural year, returned again this year, this time featuring a 1955 Chevy 3100 Short Bed Truck. Complete Auto Body, out of Maryland, essentially upgraded every part from bumper to bumper, and finished off the Build with a one-off eye-catching burgundy metal flake paint. All the parts used were from Daytona Turkey Run vendors, again proving that everything you need can be found at the Turkey Run. The truck was auctioned off on Saturday, raising $150,000 for charities in the Daytona Beach area. The entire building of the truck, its unveiling, as well as the auction was filmed, and will be shown on a special episode of South Beach Classics, starring Ted Vernon.

Here are highlights from the show.
